5 Kurdish parties in Iranian Kurdistan have formed an unprecedented coalition. This is their declaration announcing the formation of this alliance:
“We, the political parties signing the “Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan,” drawing on our history of struggle and sacrifice, and recognizing the urgent need to redefine our role in Iran’s current political situation in which the Islamic Republic has lost all political legitimacy yet remains in power due to the fragmentation of opposition forces have united our ranks in Kurdistan and hereby announce this political coalition to continue our sustained struggle.
The main objective of this coalition, formed after a period of dialogue and fieldwork at the “Dialogue Center for Cooperation,” is to strengthen unity and joint struggle to expand the Kurdish political movement in Iran, enhance the role of Kurdistan and its political movement in the fight against the Islamic Republic, secure the rights and freedoms of the people of Kurdistan, and contribute to shaping Iran’s future.
The core shared goals of this coalition are:
• To overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran
• To realize the Kurdish people’s right to self-determination
• To establish a national and democratic institution based on the political will of the Kurdish people in Iranian Kurdistan
While supporting the nationwide struggles and protests of Iran’s peoples against the Islamic Republic, we emphasize the necessity of coordinated political and field struggle between Kurdish political parties and civil organizations in Iranian Kurdistan and the political and civil organizations of other parts of Iran.
We support the formation of an inclusive and democratic transitional phase. The foundation of any cooperation or alliance with other forces is the recognition of national rights, acceptance of democracy, and rejection of all forms of dictatorship.
We believe in:
• Protecting the environment
• Social justice
• Equal rights for women and men
• Free and fair elections
• Securing and guaranteeing the fundamental rights of all national and religious communities in Kurdistan
• Institutionalizing a democratic system of governance in Iranian Kurdistan
At the same time, we consider it our duty to work toward establishing a democratic and secular political system in Iran that guarantees the rights of all nations and religious communities in the country.
We believe that now, more than ever, political unity, shared political discourse, and joint field struggle among political forces are essential to strengthening the Kurdish position in Iran’s rapidly changing political landscape. Therefore, we declare our readiness to cooperate with all political parties and movements outside this coalition and invite all the people of Kurdistan to join and reclaim their place within this coalition.”
